Since 1952, ZERO Manufacturing has grown from a small metal shop into an industry-leading global supplier of protective enclosures and cases. From our 300,000-square-foot production facility in North Salt Lake, Utah, we serve a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, telecommunications, oil and gas, medical, and electronics.
Our extensive product line encompasses a variety of fabricated metal, deep-drawn metal, and molded plastic enclosures, cases, and assemblies to protect vital equipment during operation, storage, and transport.
Aluminum Laser Cutting
Laser cutting is a manufacturing process that uses a focused laser beam to pierce raw sheet stock and produce flat geometries. This process can bypass many tooling stages to significantly lower project costs.
We use advanced 5-axis aluminum laser cutting equipment to control costs on prototypes and shorten production runs. This advanced equipment allows for the tilt and rotation of the table, enabling work on three-dimensional parts that require drilling and cutting on curved surfaces or at extreme angles.
Deep Drawing
Deep drawing is a tensile compression forming process used to create an open-top, metallic hollow body. Our skilled team utilizes a proprietary deep drawing process we call the “ZERO Method,” which accounts for most of our aluminum fabrication services.
Deep-drawn aluminum parts offer numerous benefits:
- High strength-to-weight ratio
- Excellent tear, stress, and crack resistance
- Exceptional corrosion resistance
- Heat dissipation and shielding
- RFI/EMI shielding
- ESD/grounding
Inspection
Quality is the core philosophy guiding every step of our process. We carefully conduct inspections on each production run to ensure the final result meets or exceeds customer expectations.
To verify tolerances and quality, we operate under a robust Quality Management System that is certified to AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 standards and utilizes equipment that includes:
- Spectrometers
- Helmel Checkmaster Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
- A variety of additional processes to verify tolerances and quality
We are also certified with the System for Award Management (SAM.gov).
CNC Machining
In Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, pre-programmed computer software controls the movement of factory tools and machinery.
With CNC machining, manufacturers can control a range of complicated tools like grinders, lathes, mills, and CNC routers. Our facility houses a variety of machine tools for primary and secondary machining processes, including:
- 7 Bridgeport Mills
- 5 Engine Lathes
- 3 Surface Grinders
- 3 CNC Mills
Rotational Plastic Molding
Rotational plastic molding, or rotomolding, is a thermoplastic molding process ideal for creating large, one-piece hollow parts and double-walled open containers.
We use this cost-efficient process to produce durable plastic cases and enclosures. The resulting rotationally molded polyethylene plastic shells can handle the rigors of rough handling and the challenging conditions of harsh environments.
